It is a virtual card preloaded with the value of your unused ticket, which you can use to buy airline tickets and services on our website, at points of sale or at your preferred travel agency.
You will also be able to purchase additional services with your Avianca UATP Card at avianca.com exclusively when you purchase them in the same transaction as the airline tickets. If you buy additional services after you buy your ticket, you can purchase through travel agencies or at Avianca points of sale.
You will receive an Avianca UATP Card for each ticket in your booking if you meet any of the following conditions:
- If you had an Avianca Ticket or Voucher generated by an unused ticket with an issue date prior to August 31, 2020 and with an original flight date between March 2020 and October 2020.
- If you requested a refund after October 2020 and the refund transaction to the original payment method was rejected.
Avianca UATP Cards generated by tickets issued outside Colombia may be refunded in cash through the corresponding request filed in the refund portal.
Additional for Colombia:
- In accordance with article 17 of Decree 482 of 2020 issued by the Colombian government, refund requests received by airlines may be reimbursed in services provided by the same airline until June 30, 2023.
- If the requests pertain to: withdrawal, cancellation, duplicate purchases, refundable additional services (EMDs), tickets affected by operational events (IROPs), and death; they will be refundable in the original form of payment. In the event that the payment has been rejected, a refundable Avianca UATP Card will be issued.
- Issued prior to August 31, 2020 and with original flight date between March 2020 and October 2020:
Avianca will issue a credit on your Avianca UATP Card for the value of your unused stages of your ticket minus non-refundable taxes.
- Issued after October 2020:
Avianca will issue a credit to your Avianca UATP Card for the value of the unused stages of your ticket, which will be subject to the conditions and restrictions established in the fare rules of the ticket you purchased, minus non-refundable taxes.
- The Avianca UATP Card can be used personally or as a gift voucher. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the information on the ticket that gave rise to the Avianca UATP Card, its activation, safekeeping and use are the sole responsibility of the cardholder.
- An Avianca UATP Card will be issued for each holder of a ticket in the booking; remember that it will not apply to tickets totally or partially redeemed with miles accumulated in the LifeMiles program.
- All refund requests in Colombia will be delivered on an Avianca UATP Card, with the exception of (Tickets with withdrawals, tickets with cancellations, tickets with duplicate purchases, refundable EMD documents, tickets affected by operational events (IROPs), tickets refunded due to death, partner tickets and mileage tickets).
- If there is a refund request that could not be processed due to rejection of the original form of payment (credit card or cash), a refundable Avianca UATP Card will be issued.
- The Avianca UATP Card is activated using the information on the original ticket which constitutes the contract of carriage; therefore, the activation process must be carried out exclusively by the ticketholder.
- So, you can use your Avianca UATP Card to fly with us, we have decided to extend the term of validity. This means you will have until December 31, 2024 to redeem it.
- Tickets purchased with this card are subject to the fare regulations of the new ticket.
- For purchases made by business customers who are members of the Avianca "Business Travel Program," eligible customers must coordinate the processing of their unused tickets through their company's travel administrator, responsible for addressing all matters related to the Avianca corporate agreement. The company's Travel Administrator is the only person entitled to request changes to be applied to your ticket.
